When I took up painting, I had no idea what I was doing, I just enjoyed the release it gave me. I found painting when I was looking for life stress balance. Before I was an artist, I spent a decade in Emergency Medicine as a Paramedic in a busy urban 911 setting. I worked long hours and took calls that pushed the limits of humanity. I had
When I took up painting, I had no idea what I was doing, I just enjoyed the release it gave me. I found painting when I was looking for life stress balance. Before I was an artist, I spent a decade in Emergency Medicine as a Paramedic in a busy urban 911 setting. I worked long hours and took calls that pushed the limits of humanity. I had plenty of days where I wanted to throw in the towel, but instead I picked up a brush and let loose. I began to expand my skills and took on little projects for friends and family. I took classes, nurtured my love of learning new styles and techniques. I kept growing with larger pieces, even private murals. I started making a side hustle out of it, which grew to what my art is now. I show in galleries, I paint fine art, take residencies, create commission artwork.
As far as mediums are concerned, Watercolor was my first love. I enjoy the flow, the transparency, and unexpected vibrancy. My second love, more like a child to me is Acrylic paint. It's so rich and bold yet forgiving and lenient with how opaque it can be. I was thrilled to use a shadowing technique on my last project that really stretched the idea of acrylics.
Of course, inspiration is different for everyone. I started painting with the internal fuel of finding solace, but as I've grown I've come to embrace challenge as my inspiration. I'll look at something daunting and know I'll enjoy making myself conquer it. I'm not satisfied with a piece until I feel I have won against it. Typical inspirat

I'll look at something daunting and know I'll enjoy making myself conquer it. I'm not satisfied with a piece until I feel I have won against it. Typical inspiration? No. Effective, absolutely. I love what I am capable of and I love finding more challenges to conquer. The look on my clients face at the final reveal is everything.
